Victor Emanuel of Savoya actually wanted to shoot someone else. Dr. Hamer’s son Dirk slept in a boat and did not hear anything of this quarrel between Savoya and this doctor. Savoy confessed his crime in writing but withdrew it on the judge’s advice. Thus Savoyen was acquitted for the accused in case of doubt. Years later, Savoyen told in prison that he had bribed the court of that time.
